DAS HAUS 2019 - Current Trends in Contemporary Design

The international Hotel House Home project, organized jointly by ELITE Interior magazine and architect Maria Sonne-Frederiksen (MSF Design bureau, Germany), presented a unique installation “DAS HAUS | HOME | LA CASA | LA MAISON” at the International Construction and Interior Exhibition BATIMAT RUSSIA 2019 (March 12-15). The main object of study – the HOME as an embodiment of current trends in contemporary residential space design.

The project encompasses, on one hand, the presentation of achievements in finishing materials, technical equipment, furniture, and interior accessories, introducing main trends and promising directions in interior design, and on the other hand, an extensive cultural and business program. Renowned architects and designers participate, along with leading manufacturing companies and suppliers of materials and equipment.

The main theme of HHH 2019 – “Current Trends in Contemporary Home Design: New Perspectives, New Finishing Materials.” The international project focuses on four promising trends:

1. Sustainability — The desire to lead a healthy lifestyle manifests in the approach to organizing living space and is embodied in the wish to use safe natural materials in finishing. At the core of people’s attraction to nature lies the modern world’s fatigue from synthetics, rapid information flow, and constant stress.

2. Minimalism — One of the most sought-after and fashionable styles in the world. Minimalism is not a direct opposition to luxury – it is expressed not in the quantity of details and excesses, but in the quality and aesthetics of design elements. Minimalism is meant to give an apartment an refined look and emphasize the good taste of the owners.

3. Lighting — The most popular styles require apartments to be bright. This task is best solved by panoramic glazing and lighting based on multiple sources of diffused light. Properly selected fixtures and professional lighting design are the foundation of comfortable living.

4. Open Floor Plan — The ability to freely plan space provides maximum comfort. This is embodied in creating master suites with built-in wardrobes, using open-plan kitchen-living rooms, and incorporating built-in appliances.

An international team of leading designers from Italy, Germany, Denmark, and Russia presented a comprehensive solution for creating modern comfortable living space: bedroom by Italian designers, living room by Danish specialists, children’s room by Russian designers, kitchen and bathroom by German experts.

The cultural and business program of the project included “Beyond Trends: Design and Planning of Residential Spaces” conferences, master classes by leading foreign designers, and presentations of new finishing materials, textiles, floor coverings, sanitary ware, kitchen equipment, and interior solutions.
